Green tea powder is a convenient way to consume one of the healthiest and best tasting food products you can get. Powdered tea was invented in China and brought to Japan, where it has flourished right down to this day. The most renowned type of powdered green tea is Matcha, which is tea that is grown in the shade. Matcha is, in addition to being preferred by tea connoisseurs all over the world, the kind used in Japanese tea ceremonies.

Why Drink Green Tea?

Green tea is a natural stimulant that makes a great replacement for coffee, soda or energy drinks. It contains less than half the caffeine of coffee, so it can give you a gentle lift without the jittery effect of a strong cup of coffee. Green tea also has less caffeine that black tea and many energy drinks (which are also loaded with sugar).

Green tea has a surprising array of health benefits, due to the presence of catechins (a kind of antioxidant), especially one called EGCG, which has shown promise in protecting people from many types of cancer. The antioxidants in green tea also help to lower cholesterol and improve the ratio of good to bad cholesterol.

Green Tea Powder= Diet Powder?

Green tea has recently been touted as a way to help you lose weight. Studies have shown that green tea helps the body burn fat more efficiently than either a placebo or caffeine alone, which suggests that it isn’t simply the relatively small amount of caffeine (which is used in many diet products) in green tea that makes it good for losing weight. Of course, losing weight requires a healthy diet and regular exercise, but it seems that green tea can be an effective aid in a weight loss program.

Green Tea for the Mouth

Still another benefit of green tea is that it destroys the bacteria which cause plaque and gingivitis. Even though you can get this benefit from drinking tea or taking a supplement, some natural toothpastes and mouthwashes have added it to their list of ingredients for additional protection.

With all of these benefits, it’s hard to think of a reason not to drink green tea. As a natural energy booster, it is more nutritious than coffee, colas or energy drinks. It is available as tea leaves, green tea powder, or as an extract or other supplement.
